A reciprocating compressor is provided to prevent overturn of a compressing unit of a casing in carrying the compressor, reduce the number of parts by removing a separate part for supporting resonance springs, reduce the production cost by reducing a pressure pulse without using a separate loop pipe, and increase the efficiency of the compressor by easily radiating motor heat. A casing(100) has a predetermined enclosed space. A reciprocating motor(200) is formed of an external stator(210) having a winding coil and elastically supported by the enclosed space of the casing, and a mover(220) having a magnet(221) to form flux together with the winding coil of the external stator for reciprocating in a straight line. A cylinder block(320) is fixedly combined with the mover of the reciprocating motor for sucking and compressing a refrigerant while performing relative motion to a piston(310). A plurality of resonance springs(330,340) are arranged at a front and a rear of the cylinder block for inducing the cylinder block to reciprocate in a straight line along with the mover. Valves(350,360) are installed at a suction side and a discharge side of the cylinder block for controlling suction and discharge of the refrigerant.
