Labelling a pre-finished product with the label remaining readable following pressing of the product

A method and apparatus for applying product identification to a product are disclosed. The product identification is applied as a continuous adhesive strip (2) to the pre-finished product (4) in such a manner that the identification can still be read following finishing by punching or pressing a number of apertures in the product. The method is particularly applicable to the application of barcodes to knuckle nail plates.
