An image forming apparatus and method for duplex printing are provided to align the front ends of printing media even on a reversing path to prevent the printing media from being damaged and minimize generation of a jam. An image forming apparatus for duplex printing includes a main body, a transfer path(100) for transferring printing media to the main body, an image forming unit, a reversing path(200), and an aligning unit(220). The image forming unit forms images on the printing media transferred through the transfer path. The reversing path is extended from the transfer path and reverses the printing media. The aligning unit is set on the reversing path and aligns the front ends of the printing media supplied from the transfer path to the reversing path.
