A color liquid crystal display (LCD) using a transmissive color liquid crystal display panel is provided with a main white light source (21) composed of a three-wavelength fluorescent lamp which emits light of three wavelengths or more as a light source; and an auxiliary light source (22) which includes at least one type of a diode among a red color light emitting diode (22R) which emits red color light having a peak wavelength lambdapr of 645nm, a green color light emitting diode (22G) which emits green light having a peak wavelength lambdapg of 555nm, and a blue color light emitting diode (22B) which emits blue color light having a peak wavelength lambdapb of 440nm. Thus, a color reproduction range of sRGB standards is completely covered and each color gamut is expanded. |
