<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and method for compensating an onboard sensor, capable of appropriately compensating a displacement of any one of sensors occurring in a system which detects a position of its surrounding objects by using different kinds of sensors together such as a radar and a camera, even after shipping the system. <P>SOLUTION: The apparatus includes: an image processing section 2 which applies an image recognition processing to an image photographed by the camera 1, thereby detecting a pixel position of surrounding vehicles in the photographed image; an information processing section 4 which converts a position of the surrounding vehicles detected by the radar 3 into a pixel position in the photographed image; and a compensation processing section 5 which obtains a compensation value so that the difference between both pixel positions disappears, and compensates the direction of the camera 1 in accordance with the compensation value. The direction of the camera 1 is compensated based on a detection result of the radar 3 while moving the vehicle, whereby the direction of the camera 1 can be appropriately compensated so that the displacement of the camera 1 disappears at an arbitrary timing, even after shipping the system. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p> |
