PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk driver which can be made compact and is improved in reliability while securely clamping a recording medium. SOLUTION: The disk driver has a fixed part with a disk driving part placed thereon and an extension/contraction part which extends to the fixed part by inserting a disk 23 into the disk insertion slot. The disk driver is provided with: a disk holder 74 supported by the fixed part to move among a standby position allowing the recording medium to be inserted, a hold position for clamping the recording medium inserted to a specified position, and an ON position apart from recording medium to allow the recording medium to be rotated; and a holder driving mechanism which holds the disk holder at the standby position when the extension/contraction part is at a contraction position, moves the disk holder to the hold position while the extension/contraction part moves from the contraction position to an extension position, and moves the disk holder to the ON position when the recording medium is loaded in the disk driving part.
