PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power supply device capable of realizing safe overcurrent protective action, while reducing unnecessary power loss. SOLUTION: This power supply device is provided with an output voltage generation means P1 generating an output voltage Vo from an input voltage Vi, monitor voltage generating means P2 and R3 generating a monitor voltage Vim matching an output current Io, a first threshold voltage generation means E2 generating a predetermined first threshold voltage Vth1, a second threshold voltage generation means BUF generating a second threshold voltage Vth2 matching the output voltage Vo; a comparison signal generation means CMP generating a comparison signal Sc with logic varied, according to the height difference between either of the Vth1 and the Vth 2 and the Vim, and a drive permission/inhibition control means ERR controlling drive permission/prohibition of the output voltage generation means P1; according to the logic of the comparison signal Sc.
