PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a waste disposal method and device that reduce CO<SB>2</SB>in exhaust gas and enable a low cost operation. SOLUTION: The method, which disposes of wastes in a stoker type heat treatment furnace 1, dries and subsequently thermally decomposes wastes on grates 8 within an upper limit temperature lower than the minimum ignition temperature of the wastes and the temperature at which carbon in the wastes starts to react with moisture, and subjects generated thermal decomposition gas to primary combustion with an air ratio of 0.2 to 0.8.
