PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnesium melting device capable of efficiently re-forming a broken protective coating. SOLUTION: The magnesium melting device is provided with a melting furnace 1 for accumulating magnesium molten metal 2, a fixed cover 3 mounted to the upper part of the melting furnace for covering the magnesium molten metal, an input port 3a formed at the fixed cover opened on an upper side for putting a material 10 into the melting furnace, and a nozzle 7 for supplying protective gas 8 in the melting furnace 1 to prevent the oxidation of the magnesium molten metal. The nozzle supplies the protective gas to the lower part of the input port among surfaces of the magnesium molten metal when the material is put in the melting furnace through the input port.
