PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a single-wall carbon nanotube-egg white protein composite (EW-SWNT) which is highly dispersed and isolated. SOLUTION: A method for producing the EW-SWNT uses single-wall carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) in an amount of 3-10 wt.% based on egg white (EW) protein, and includes two steps of a homogenization step for subjecting a mixture of SWNTs each having a length in the range of 500 nm to 2μm and an aqueous solution of EW protein to ultrasonication, e.g., for 30 minutes and a step for removing solid materials from the homogenized mixture. The step for removing the solid materials may be conducted by filtration, ultracentrifugation or the like. The ultracentrifugation may be conducted at 10,000 g to 200,000 g, changing the rotational frequency gradually from low to high. For instance, the ultracentrifugation may be conducted in two stages, at 18,000 g for 3 h, followed by 120,000 g for 4 h. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
