The invention relates to a saddle pad that exhibits pockets ( 16 ) on its top side facing toward a saddle to be laid on, arranged along and to the left and right of a line of symmetry (A) of the saddle pad. The pockets ( 16 ) extend over the entire length of the saddle pad ( 10 ). Inserted into the pockets ( 16 ) is a plate-shaped spring device ( 20 ), by which optimal stabilization and pressure distribution are achieved, even when treeless saddles are provided for the riding of a riding animal.
