Continuously operated longitudinal pipe seam welding assembly has position-adjustable closing wheels

A welding assembly closes opposite curved edges of pipes as they pass through a tunnel welding station, guided by keels located top (2) and bottom and at each side (4, 5). The keel and guide positions are adjustable w.r.t the pipe axis (7). The keel sides on each side of the pipe seam are set at an angle to each other and to the pipe axis. The welding assembly forms a single longitudinal seam as the curved sheet metal feeds continually through the tunnel welder. The guide (2) flanks (8, 9) each have closing wheels (11, 12) to hold the edges in correct presentation as they are welded. The closing wheels are adjustable to compensate of pipe material of different thickness.
