The method involves storing data in a memory e.g. electrically erasable programmable read-only memory, that is provided with a set of memory cells. A detection of critical memory cells of the memory is performed, and free memory cells in the memory are scanned. Data addresses of the data of the critical memory cells of the memory are changed to the free memory cells of the memory.
