<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide heat shield plate structure for and an exhaust emission control catalyst, preventing foreign matter from entering into between an exhaust gas cleaning catalyst and a catalyst heat shield plate while ensuring mounting property. <P>SOLUTION: The heat shield plate structure for an exhaust emission control catalyst comprises: the catalyst heat shield plate 24 formed to be approximately cylindrical to cover an outer periphery of the exhaust gas cleaning catalyst 20 with a predetermined space therebetween, and constituted by mutually joining a plurality of curved heat shield plates split in a plane including the central axis of the cylindrical shape and each having an end part with flange part 25 extended in an outer peripheral direction; an air-fuel ratio sensor 26 disposed upstream of the catalyst heat shield plate 24 to detect oxygen concentration in exhaust gas; and an air-fuel ratio sensor heat shield plate 27 formed to be conical around the air-fuel ratio sensor 26 as its center to suppress transmission of radiant heat to the air-fuel ratio sensor 26. Each catalyst heat shield plates 24 is arranged at a position where the air-fuel sensor 26 is deviated from an extended line of the flange part 25 in such a manner that an uppermost stream part of the flange part 25 is spaced from the air-fuel ratio sensor heat shield plate 27. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
