<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery excellent in charge/discharge cycle characteristics and heavy-load discharge characteristics. <P>SOLUTION: The nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery comprises: a positive electrode including a lithium-containing transition metal oxide having a layered structure as a positive electrode active material; a negative electrode; and a nonaqueous electrolyte. The negative electrode includes, as a negative electrode active material, a compound containing Si and O as constituent elements (where the atomic ratio x of O to Si satisfies that 0.5≤x≤1.5), the surface of the compound being coated with carbon. The nonaqueous electrolyte contains vinylene carbonate, and the ratio P/N between the mass P of the positive electrode active material in the positive electrode and the mass N of the negative electrode active material in the negative electrode is 3.7 to 6.8. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
