PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber type excitation combiner that achieves higher excitation power density and high output energy of signal light even when five or less multi-mode high output laser light sources are used.

SOLUTION: The optical fiber type excitation combiner obtained by combining a plurality of multi-mode optical fibers and one single-mode optical fiber is characterized in that the number of the multi-mode optical fibers is 3 to 5 and that the single-mode optical fiber used has a clad outer diameter determined according to the number of multi-mode optical fibers so as to make a closest packed structure of the optical fibers.
