PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a passenger conveyor capable of suppressing rocking of an apparatus accompanying a vertical variation caused when a tread chain meshes with sprockets. SOLUTION: This passenger conveyor has a frame body 2 supported by a building structure, a pair of right and left tread chains 6 incorporated into this frame body 2, connected in an endless shape and rotating between a plurality of boarding-alighting ports 15a and 15b, a pair of sprockets arranged in the boarding-alighting ports 15a and 15b and driving the wound tread chain 6, a tread shaft 7 connecting the right and left tread chains 6 at a predetermined interval and installing a tread 5, an axial roller 8 rotatably arranged in both side parts of this tread shaft 7 and supporting the tread 5 and a load applied to this tread, and a rail 9 guiding travel of this axial roller 8. A guide 10 locking the upward movement of the axial roller 8 is fixedly arranged under a shaft of the sprockets transferring the tread shaft 7, the tread 5 and the axial roller 8 upward from below.
