The equipment and method are for the complete separation of other marine species from a catch of eels and to return such species alive back to the sea. A box (1) is used, on the under side of which a slide hatch (4) is provided through which the eels via the box can swim in the space provided in an undisturbed manner. For the complete separation and live return of the other marine species to the sea, on the upper side of the box is a connecting funnel (5) and reservoir (6) with hose (2), enabling the other marine species to be separated from the eels and returned to the sea within 10 to 20 seconds.
