COMPOSITION FOR SEALING LIGHT EMITTING ELEMENT AND LIGHT EMITTING ELEMENT, AND OPTICAL SEMICONDUCTOR DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition for sealing a light emitting element which can be efficiently improved in light scattering capability while maintaining the transparency as a sealing material, and to provide the light emitting element and an optical semiconductor device.

SOLUTION: The composition contains star-shaped titanium oxide grains 21 having an average grain diameter of not less than 50 nm nor more than 1 μm. The star-shaped titanium oxide grains 21 each include six radial extensions 22, and a pair of projections 23. The extensions 22 are so arranged as to overlap the adjacent ones 22 when they are rotated 60° on the central axis. Moreover, there are ridges 24 formed between the tip 22a of each extension 22 and the top 23a of each projection 23. The whole topography is the shape of a hexagonal star.
