METHOD OF MANUFACTURING OPTICAL GLASS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing optical glass particularly having a low glass transition temperature (Tg) and suitable for precision mold press forming in the method of manufacturing the optical glass having the large variation of refractive index due to the volatilization of components.

SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing the optical glass having refractive index (nd) of <1.8 includes a step for charging a raw material previously controlled so that the characteristic of flowing-out molten glass is within a prescribed range in a glass melting apparatus including flowing out the molten glass from a flow-out port. In the manufacturing method, and the characteristic of the molten glass to be controlled is the refractive index.
