PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display apparatus which has a luminous body for emitting light by the light from a light source and a surface light source device of an edge light system with a light source arranged on at least one side end face of the luminous body, and in which high luminance and high brightness is achieved and uneven illumination is reduced. SOLUTION: The display apparatus 3 is constituted of: a luminous body 1 composed of a multilayer plate comprising a film layer and a substrate layer containing a light scattering agent; and a surface light source device of an edge light system wherein a light source 2 is arranged on at least one side end face of the luminous body 1.
