PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent plating peeling-off and deterioration of characteristics such as strength by preventing generation of whisker accompanied with making a plating layer lead-free to be applied to the surface of a rectangular conductor, and by forming the plating layer of an appropriate thickness in an automatic mounting-compatible flat cable in which the rectangular conductors are arranged in parallel in a plurality of numbers between two insulating layers. SOLUTION: In the flat cable 10, the rectangular conductors 11 are arranged in parallel in the plurality of numbers between the insulating films 12, and tin-copper alloy plating with thicknesses of 4μm or more and 6μm or less is applied to the surface of the rectangular conductors 11. This tin-copper alloy plating contains copper of 0.5 to 2.0 wt.%. Moreover, in the rectangular conductors, nickel plating of thickness 1.0μm to 2.0μm is applied as the base metal.
