PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the continuation of such a status that significant software update has not been executed since it is impossible for a user to recognize the necessity of the re-execution of software update when a portable telephone is being used on a reservation date, and it is impossible to update software in the case of performing the reservation update of the software of the portable telephone. SOLUTION: When a portable telephone is notified of the start of update from a server when a reservation date has come, a PICT showing that the notification of the start of update has been received is displayed on the picture of the portable telephone. This display makes it possible for a user to recognize that the update reservation date has come, and the user stops the use of the portable telephone to execute update processing. Also, even when an update request is made invalid due to time-out, the user is notified that it is necessary to re-execute the software update by continuously displaying the PICT even after time-out.
