Apparatus for continuous prodn. of cellulose triacetate in heterogeneous phase has units disposed in series for activation, acetylation, benzene washing, benzene distillation, and partial saponification, each of these units being connected by a pipe(s) with a transporter screw which transports the fibrous material from one unit to the next unit and hermetically seals the units from each other, while each transporter screw is provided with a valve operated by a spring against the discharge opening. The use of the transporter screws ensures stable continuous operation of the apparatus, and reduces loss of fibres from the reaction mass. The fibres are fitted efficiently between each unit to separate the liquid component.
