The sensor has housing (1), a sensor unit (2) that is fixed at the housing, and a round opening (3) that is provided in the housing. A clamping ring (4) is fixed between the housing and sensor unit in an area of the opening at the housing using high-temperature stable connection, where a pressing force is provided over the clamping ring for achieving a sealing effect between the housing and the sensor unit. A ceramic plate (6) is provided between the clamping ring and the sensor unit. An independent claim is also included for a method for production of a gas sensor.
