PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery cover for lithium secondary battery making the lithium secondary battery discharge up to optimum state, preventing deterioration of capacity caused by a long termed preservation at fully charged state, capable of switching the long term preservation mode and normal mode with a simple method. SOLUTION: The battery cover 2 detachable to a battery pack 1 has a terminal having a shape of connecting to a charging and discharging terminal 11 of the battery pack, a means detecting the voltage of the battery pack, and a discharge control means making the battery pack discharge in reference to the voltage detected by the voltage detection means. When the terminal 21 of the battery cover is mounted in a mounting state connecting with the charging and discharging terminal of the battery pack, the battery pack is discharged up to a prescribed voltage. A first mounting state that the terminal of the battery cover is connected to the charging and discharging terminal of the battery pack can be switched to a second mounting state that the terminal of the battery cover is connected to the charging and discharging terminal of the battery pack.
