PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat exchanger improved in resistance to heat fatigue in use by a stiffening part which can be easily manufactured and easily incorporated with the heat exchanger. SOLUTION: The heat exchanger has a header plate 18 with a plurality of openings and a plurality of tubes 20 each having an end portion inserted into one of the plurality of openings in the header plate. Each of the plurality of tubes 20 has a generally rectangular cross-section and a longitudinal axis. An end portion of at least some of the plurality of tubes 20 is stiffened by a respective stiffening part 5. Each stiffening part 5 includes two reinforcing elements 6 positioned opposite each other abutting an inner surface of the tubes. Each reinforcing element 6 also includes a back portion 8 and two side portions 10 extending from the back portion 8, and the two reinforcing elements 6 are mutually connected by a connecting member 12.
