PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a garbage treatment apparatus capable of easily cleaning the inside of a garbage treatment chamber by a small amount of washing water. SOLUTION: The garbage treatment apparatus (1) for discharging the crushed garbage with washing water has a garbage treatment chamber (8); a water feeding means (28) for flowing-in the washing water to the garbage treatment chamber; crushing means (18, 20a) for crushing the garbage thrown into the garbage treatment chamber; a drive means (12) for rotating/driving the crushing means; a garbage discharge part (14) for discharging the garbage crushed by the crushing means; and a control means (22) for executing operations of a crushing mode and a cleaning mode by operating the water feeding means and the drive means. At the crushing mode, the control means rotates the crushing means while performing water-feeding by the water feeding means and at the cleaning mode, the control means rotates the crushing means in the state that water-feeding by the water feeding means is stopped in at least a part during an operation period of the cleaning mode.
