PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a charging device capable of achieving the high quality of an image forming apparatus by ensuring a stable charging amount of a body to be charged, thereby improving the reproducibility of an image. SOLUTION: The charging device 20 charges a photoreceptor drum 2 by applying a high voltage to a wire 212 disposed in a shield case 211, thereby generating corona discharge. The charging device 20 includes: a constant current generating section 22 that causes a constant current to flow in the wire 212; a current value detecting section 23 composed of division resistors R1 and R2 connected to a shield case 211; and a control section 24 that adjusts a constant current generated by the constant current generation section 22, so that a current detected by the current value detection unit 23 becomes constant.
