A universal mounting ( 1 ) for a vehicle rear view mirror ( 2 ) adapted to fit on a mirror arm ( 4 ) of any cross-section comprising a mirror arm engaging surface ( 3, 8, 18 ) and clamping means ( 5 ), in which the clamping means are adapted to extend around or through a mirror arm ( 4 ) with which the mounting is to be used, and to urge the mirror arm engaging surface ( 3, 8, 18 ) against said mirror arm ( 4 ), and in which the mirror arm engaging surface is adapted to engage mirror arms of any cross section.
