PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a processing method for lumber which can easily realize the polishing of a lumber surface being a processing object without going through a separate process, and by which the glossiness on the lumber surface is not lost even after repeated uses. SOLUTION: In order to process a piece of lumber into a specified three-dimensional shape, a compression process in which the lumber under a state having a water content of the fiber saturation point or higher is compressed under a steam atmosphere having a higher temperature and a higher pressure than the atmospheric air is performed. After the compression process, a heat-reshaping process in which the compressed lumber is reshaped while being heated under the atmospheric air may further be performed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
