PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a system for sensing a mobile object, which can sense movement of the object based on measurements of an electric field generated by a transmitter such as an IC tag or the like, and can be realized while suppressing their implementation costs. SOLUTION: The electric field generated by a plurality of transmitters being arranged in a target space to be sensed is measured, and a difference between the measured value and an average value of electric fields measured in such the state that no object moves in the target space to be sensed. The movement of the object is sensed when the difference is equal to or more than a threshold based on the standard deviation of the electric fields in such the state that no object moves in the target space to be sensed.
