PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an auger type icemaker that has an auger having a helical blade capable of more reliably scraping and feeding up an ice layer iced on the inner wall surface of a refrigerated casing, that is, capable of making ice with better scraping performance. SOLUTION: The auger type icemaker comprises the refrigerated casing 2 on the inner wall of which the ice layer is formed, and the auger 4 rotatably disposed in the refrigerated casing and provided on an outer circumference with the helical blade 5 for shaving and feeding the ice layer. The cutting edge of the helical blade has a taper face 5a oriented in the feed direction of the ice layer scraped from the refrigerated casing, and a horizontal included angle x between the taper face of the helical blade and the refrigerated casing is set at a predetermined angle, preferably at 2 to 9°. The "horizontal included angle" is an angle formed between the taper face of the cutting edge of the helical blade and the refrigerated casing when a horizontal section of the auger and the refrigerated casing taken in a position where the helical blade is situated is viewed from above.
