PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a repair reinforcing method of an existing gravity type quay capable of shortening the occupation of a quay as much as possible, optionally setting an interlocking position to a stay of a tie material according to conditions and effectively obtaining sufficient overturning resistant moment strength and its structure. SOLUTION: In the case the repair reinforcement of the existing gravity type quay submerging a caisson 2 at the water's edge is carried out, while a vertical tunnel 18 having a predetermined depth excavating by cylindrically surrounding the circumference with a steel plate is formed in a position separating at a predetermined distance from the existing caisson 2 on the land side, and an interlocking section 30 of the tie material 24 is formed in the top slab 10 of the upper end of the existing caisson. Then, a boring machine 28 is installed in the interlocking section to bore a hole by inclining it below to a predetermined height position of the steel plate of the vertical tunnel from the interlocking section, and the new tie material is inserted and installed in the boring to respectively fix both ends of the tie material to the steel plate and the interlocking section of the top slab section.
