Bubble vials with improved user readability for assisting users to accurately interpret a bubble's position relative to its reference markings for use in a wide range of leveling instruments. Improved user readability can be achieved by a bright colored elongated leveling aid against a substantially opaque light colored filling liquid or a light colored elongated leveling aid against a substantially opaque dark colored filling liquid. The elongated leveling aid can be implemented with different transverse cross sections and be preferably illuminated by artificial and/or ambient light. Alternatively, improved user readability can be achieved by an illuminated light pipe-like bubble vial with a light source and a reflective surface at opposite ends, and color contrasting light source and filling liquid. |
