<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a separator for solid polymer fuel cell provided with excellent conductivity and excellent corrosion resistant property as well. <P>SOLUTION: The separator 4 is composed of a stainless steel 41 and an amorphous carbon film 42. The stainless steel 41 has corrosion resistant property against sulfuric acid, and an indented face 411 is formed on a main surface thereof. The amorphous carbon film 42 has a full width at half maximum ranging 50 to 200 cm<SP>-1</SP>, as that of G-band of Raman scattering spectrum, and specific resistance of about 1.0×10<SP>-3</SP>Ωcm. The amorphous carbon film 42 is formed by an ECR sputtering method so as to cover the indented face 411 of the stainless steel 41.
