PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology of suppressing a peak current itself that flows into a main power supply portion by smoothing the peak current caused by an inrush current and the like generated by a load that is driven intermittently, with regard to a power supply device that is mounted on an image forming apparatus and a bookbinding device.

SOLUTION: To a first load that is driven continuously, electric power is supplied from a DC power source, which is a main power source. To a second load that is driven intermittently, power is supplied intermittently from a capacitor. This capacitor is charged by a current supplied from the DC power source. When charging the capacitor, a current corresponding to a time up to the next drive of the second load is supplied to the capacitor.
