PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent map data on blocks, that are unnecessary for travel guidance, from being stored in a storage means inside the body. SOLUTION: It is determined whether road link data are to be included in map data read by a map data reading means (S104); and when it is determined that the road link data are to be included in the map data read by the map data reading means, the map data read by the map data reading means are stored inside an external memory 17 inside the body (S116).
