PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid ejector in which liquid discharged from a discharge port can be absorbed smoothly and collected while suppressing bubbles contained in the liquid. SOLUTION: The liquid ejector comprises a recording head 30 for ejecting ink supplied from an ink cartridge 15 from a nozzle, a cap member 10 for sealing the nozzle formation surface 30a of the recording head 30, a means for sucking ink and air in a space formed by the cap member 10 and the nozzle formation surface 30a, a waste liquid tank 12 for collecting ink discharged from the discharge port 32 of the suction means, and a channel 37 for suppressing bubbles by ejecting fluid at a predetermined timing toward the vicinity of a place where the discharge port 32 of the suction means is opening for the waste liquid tank 12.
