PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To drive a display means with power saving when reproducing a recording disk including no video content or a recording disk including sound content in a television receiver having a built-in recording disk player. SOLUTION: The recording disk player (illustrated in recorder/player 30) is provided with a disk discriminating means for discriminating whether content stored in recording disk to be reproduced includes a video image, for example, in a microcomputer 31. A main body side control means (illustrated in system control microcomputer 19) of the TV receiver (illustrated in liquid crystal TV 1) has a driving control means for controlling the display means so as to reduce power consumption by receiving a discrimination result by the disk discriminating means from the microcomputer 31 or the like and controlling a backlight control circuit 18 so as to turn off and dim a backlight 17 or the like when reproducing a recording disk storing only content including no video image.
