PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a remote monitoring system for preventing a huge load from being imposed on a center device. SOLUTION: When the number of gateway devices GWn which are performing communication when receiving an information transmission acceptance request is less than the registered number of gateway devices GWn preliminarily registered in a center device 1 or the upper limit number determined according to the number of communication per unit time for making it possible for the center device 1 to simultaneously perform communication, acceptance permission notification is returned from the center device 1 to the gateway device GWn, and when the number reaches the upper limit number, acceptance rejection notification is returned from the center device 1 to the gateway device GWn. When receiving the acceptance rejection notification, the gateway device GWn transmits an information transmission acceptance request again to the center device 1 after the lapse of a predetermined standby time. Thus, it is possible to prevent a huge load on the center device by preventing a number of gateway devices GWn from simultaneously transmitting information without receiving permission from the center device 1.
