PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve problems that in a liquid crystal display device for displaying different videos to be viewed from different viewing fields using a parallax barrier, a plurality of images are sometimes mixed according to viewing places, and that since the display luminance greatly drops when the aperture ratio of the parallax barrier is decreased, positions of a viewer are strictly limited in order to prevent image mixing and to secure display luminance. SOLUTION: In the present invention, images are displayed in different directions without using the parallax barrier but by alternately lighting backlights having directivity in a plurality of different directions while synchronizing the rewriting of video signals in two systems to be alternately displayed on a liquid crystal panel.
