PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet-like display medium which is manufactured by a manufacturing method, which is easier and more inexpensive than the conventional manufacturing method, and has excellent display characteristics and to provide a display element using the sheet-like display medium. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the display medium, which has partition walls, cells partitioned by partition walls and a moving particle in each of cells at the least, comprises: a coating liquid preparing step of mixing/dispersing at least a dispersion medium, the moving particle and a resin to be cured by light, heat or radial rays; a coating film forming step of applying the coating liquid onto a substrate; a curing step of curing the coating film by irradiating the coating film with light or radial rays or heating the coating film; and an evaporating step of evaporating the dispersion medium. The display medium has partition walls, cells partitioned by partition walls and the moving particle in each of cells at the least and each of partition walls is composed of a cured material of the resin to be cured by light, heat or radial rays.
