PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a urethane (urea) resin having a high hydroxyl value using a material of natural origin. SOLUTION: The urethane resin is synthesized from a polyol of natural origin having one or more primary hydroxyl groups and one or more secondary hydroxyl groups as essential ingredients. The urethane resin is preferably characterized in that the polyol of natural origin comprises a sugar alcohol or saccharides.
