Monomers for fibre-forming ester-amide interpolymers

Prodn. of a monomeric dicarboxylic acid cpd. of formula (I) is claimed. In (I) n is 1-4 and each R is 5-10C polymethylene gp. Also claims a method for the prodn. of a monomeric dicarboxylic acid as specified above in which n = 2 and R is (CH2)7. The prepn. of a fibre-forming ester-amide interpolymer by reaction of the specified dicarboxylic acid monomer with ethylene glycol is described in the example.
