An image forming system is provided to selectively perform density change and halftone processing according to characteristic of an image to obtain an image with high picture quality and rapidly process an image by using attribute information on the image. An image forming system includes an information processing apparatus(402) and an image forming apparatus(400). The information processing apparatus includes a first density changing unit for changing pixel density of pixel data, an image characteristic information memory for storing image characteristic information used in the first density changing unit, and a transmitter for transmitting the image characteristic information and the pixel data to the image forming apparatus. The image forming apparatus includes an image forming unit, an exposure unit, a developer for developing an electrostatic latent image, a color distortion memory for storing information on color distortion, a color distortion correction quantity calculator, an image data memory for storing image data including pixel data, a coordinate converter, and a second density changing unit. The coordinate converter converts coordinates of a recording address used when the image data is recorded in the image data memory and reads pixel data with respect to an object pixel from the image data memory according to address information after the coordinate conversion. The second density changing unit changes pixel density of pixel data.
