A system and a method for automatically controlling power of a computer are provided to minimize damage by preventing troubles caused by unpredictable turn-off or down of the computer, as required management is automatically performed by monitoring the power/down of the computer. A signal transferring module(13) is installed in the computer(10) including a power module(11) and a reset module(12), and periodically transmits a signal during a normal operation of the computer. A controlling module(42) receives the power from a power line different from the computer, receives the signal from the signal transferring module, and checks whether the signal is not received after a predetermined cycle. A signal inputting module(41) operates the power module and the reset module by control of the controlling module. The controlling stops the operation of peripherals(50) linked with the computer if the next signal is not received from the signal transferring module after the period or a standby time.
