<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect fault of a plurality of semiconductor light sources connected in series with high precision. <P>SOLUTION: The light emitting device for vehicle comprises a plurality of multichip LEDs 20-28 connected in series, a switching regulator 12 for supplying power from a power supply to the multichip LEDs 20-28, a circuit 16 for detecting the forward voltage of the multichip LEDs 20-28, respectively, and a circuit 18 for detecting fault of the multichip LEDs 20-28 based on the detection value of the forward voltage detection circuit 16 wherein the multichip LEDs 20-28 are arranged such that one having a smaller number of chips or a lower forward voltage is located closer to the reference potential side of the power supply. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p> |
