PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid state detection sensor capable of preventing excessive temperature rise of a liquid state detection element (heating resistor). SOLUTION: In this liquid state detection sensor 100, at the point of time after lapse of the first current-carrying time t1 (300 m-sec) which is shorter than the second current-carrying time t2 (700 m-sec) and longer than an initial current-carrying time t0 (100 m-sec) after start of current-carrying into the heating resistor 117, it is determined whetherΔV1(=V2-V1) is a smaller value than a threshold Q or not in the step SB. When determined to beΔV1<Q (Yes), after lapse of the second current-carrying time t2 (700 m-sec) from start of current-carrying, the urine concentration in urine aqueous solution is calculated based on the second differential valueΔV2(=V3-V1). On the other hand, when determined the first differential valueΔV1 is larger than the threshold Q (NO) in the step SB, progression to step SK is performed, and current-carrying into the heating resistor 117 is stopped.
