The filter matting of curled synthetic fibres is developed by a basic layer needled to a lattice weave, and subsequent layers overlaid and needled to cause the fibres to pass from one layer to another. The bond is intensified by heat action on the thermoplastic fibres, and the use of a chemically neutral bonding agent. The fibres are extruded in fibre form, or split with an angular cross section from extruded film. The purpose is to provide a filter which is resistant to water, oil and light, which will allow water to pass through but which will retain fine particles.
|
